Where are the African-American Homeschoolers?

I started homeschooling my ten year old daughter two years ago.  We will be going into our third year of homeschooling this year. (5th grade).  The years of homeschooling have been rewarding.  Though, I find it very puzzling from reading information about the high number of African-Americans that are homeschooled and actually running into any of those large number of African-American students that are being homeschooled.  Whenever I attend any homeschool activities, I rarely run into any parents of color or students of color that are being homeschooled.  That is definitely not to say that there is not a large number, it just seems strange to not see too many in the activities that we attend.  For instance, my daughter took swimming lessons for homeschool students at a Y in Maryland, and as usual, we were the only people of color there.  We attended a play hosted at a large university in Maryland, I saw only two people of color and one of the parents came along with me. It would be nice to actually see support groups that are also represented with people of color.  Have you had the same experience?
